About the player
Hi guys. I'm your friendly neighborhood player who joined in December 2014. I would have been one of those old 1.0 people banging their canes and reminiscing about the good old days before it all went to shit, but unfortunately I can't do that much because I barely played in 1.0. Following various salty posts about how much time people waste on this app grinding (1.8M XP in 12 days?!!!!) I hypocritically proceed to do the exact same thing:
- In October 2015, I had my first taste of competition on QuizUp. XP-wise, I got completely demolished by Sylvia, Cheren, Sean, and various other top players, but hey, it was a fun time. The next month, I got my first world title in the Homestuck topic, sniping the title off the MDer Grim Maryam.
- I took a break for no reason and came back near the end of April 2016. I played quite a bit in May, where I built my consistency into what it is today, and got 1.52 million XP. In June, I got 1.08 million XP in the Homestuck topic, going at a rate that made many lazy people ragequit not even halfway into the month.
- In July 2016, pouring all of my free time into QuizUp, I amassed 11.1 million XP over the course of a month and powerleveled from level 247 to 614, turning myself from a relatively unknown, overshadowed Californian player into a top 10, still overshadowed Californian player. (Still couldn't get world title though.)
- I then stole the all-time Homestuck world title and learned the Music Theory topic in August, and made a world title run in Music Theory in September, beating out Nishant M for the title by about 100K and also trailblazing past a lot of lazy people who were content with just trying to one-up each other and not actually go for the title.
- And finally, in October 2016 (one year after I started playing seriously), I finally got a monthly Pokémon world title with 5.01 million XP.
I declared my intention to "quit w" after getting that title, since I had basically accomplished what I had originally set my sights on when I joined the app. However, after bouncing around a lot of ideas for an osu! World Cup-themed tournament with a few people over Discord, I decided to create the very first QWC, which was an unexpectedly massive success. There were over 50 entrants, and all the competitors were dedicated and cooperative (for the most part), making the tournament run very, very smoothly. The tournament also got a lot of veterans to come out of retirement, and gave up-and-coming players a chance to shine. Because of this success, I'm basically set on dedicating the rest of my time on QuizUp to tournament hosting.
As a player nowadays, I still work to retain an extremely low loss percentage in every topic I actively play in, and I actually have the highest average score in the top 20, at 155. Despite this, I still have a tendency to choke away important games, so don't expect me to be as consistent in tournament.
Hit me up if you have any concerns or questions about any of the tournaments I host, or if you want to just talk about stuff.
